crystal and jeremy's engagement session

I photographed Crystal and Jeremy in Rogers for their engagement session last Saturday. I'm bummed that I'm not photographing their wedding in Memphis, but it was fun to get to know them a little bit. Here are a few of my favs...

october 8, 2006 - emily + charles

I was so excited to photograph the wedding of Emily and Charles at Mildred B. Cooper Chapel in Bella Vista. Emily looked absolutely stunning and Charles cleaned up really nicely! :) Their reception followed at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers.

The flower girl was sooo cute. I love that I captured this kiss!

Charles catching his first glimpse at his bride...

I could photograph every wedding here and be completely happy! It's simply gorgeous!

Emily's dress was beautiful too

Congrats you guys! I am so happy for both of you!

september 30, 2006 - elizabeth + chuck

Cyndi and I were in Central Arkansas for Elizabeth and Chuck's wedding at the All Souls Church in Scott, Arkansas. We actually went to the Univ. of Arkansas and the Wesley Foundation with Elizabeth, but we didn't really put it together that she was who we were photographing until about a week before the wedding. It was really fun to photograph the wedding of someone we knew. By the way, our Garmin GPS failed us trying to find the church. A good tip for other photographers reading this... always give yourself plenty of time to get to the wedding! You never know when something might go wrong. But I digress...

This is Dan. I'm told Dan goes everywhere with Chuck and his friends. It was only fair to have him in his monkey suit for the big day.

A little Taboo before the vows...

A little detail...

I love this exit shot!

Cyndi and I were so thrilled to be a part of your wedding. Congrats again!

september 23, 2006 - jana + tom

My final Iowa wedding was Jana + Tom's. They were married on Saturday, September 23rd at the Des Moines Botanical Center, followed by their reception. It was totally different that what I am used to photographing and I loved every minute of it. I knew I would have a great time with these two just like I did on their engagement shoot.

If you've never been to the Botanical Center, it is really a cool place to go.

The flowergirls were really adorable...

Jana and Tom walked each other down the aisle

The ceremony was gorgeous!

They really enjoyed the cake

It was so much fun to photograph your wedding. You two are so cute together! Congratulations!

september 9, 2006 - erin + aj

I'm a little behind on my blogging, but I wanted to share my favs from Erin + AJ's wedding. They were married last Saturday at Smith Chapel on Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa and their reception followed at The Temple for Performing Arts in Des Moines. When I photographed their engagement, it ended up raining on us toward the end. This time it started raining on us early during the best lighting for outside formals I have had in a while. Erin was Angela's (of Angela + Korey) maid of honor last year and liked my style so much they brought me back! It was good seeing a lot of the same people in at at this wedding.

The guys watching the Iowa/Syracuse game before we got started

The flower girl was the cutest!

AJ and Erin's first look

The bling... I mean rings.

Erin and her gals

AJ and the guys

Erin looked gorgeous... so it was like any other day

The chapel was incredible looking with the flowers running down the aisle

Korey sang during the ceremony.

Getting on the bus... in the rain.

Toasting...

Congrats to you two again! Hope you had fun in Aruba!

Calling all seniors!!!

Hey everyone out there in blog world... I am looking to start shooting high school senior photos and am looking for some people to get this part of my portfolio going. If you are reading this and are or know of somebody who wants to get their senior pictures done within the next couple of months, just have them email us at studio@adamdodson.com or call us at 479-586-5491 to book a senior portrait session. The first 7 get a free session ($75 value), up to two hours with as many clothing changes that will fit within that time frame, a password protected online gallery included for 21 days, and a $100 print credit. What have you got to lose? This won't be your cookie-cutter "look and say cheese" session. This is you, relaxed, doing your own thing, out on the town... wherever you want.*

*Umm...in NWA. Can't travel too far. Gas is expensive!

Need a Townhouse in Ankeny, Iowa?

As some of you may know, Cyndi and I lived in Ankeny for about a year and a half before we decided to move back to NW Arkansas. Thing is, we still own our townhouse in Ankeny. This is basically a plug to get the info out, so don't mind me! :) You can see the listing on RE/MAX's website. If you or someone you know is looking for a house in central Iowa, this is the one for them! :) Interested? Contact Sheena at 515-967-1532.

august 26, 2006 - kari + aaron

This past weekend, Cyndi and I were back in Iowa for a long weekend in the Metro area. We were there to shoot Kari and Aaron's wedding. If you read the blog often, you probably remember seeing their engagement and bridal sessions a while ago. We were in Ames Friday for the rehearsal dinner and Saturday for the wedding. The wedding was held at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames followed by the reception at The Gateway Hotel.

This is what happens when you poke the bride in the head with the pointy part of the veil!

Putting the shoes on...

The guys raiding the food before it all starts...

The church was really cool...

I caught this during the recessional...

We were able to sneak into Jack Trice Stadium for a few pictures

This is Tony Bohenkamp. He is formerly of The Nada's in Des Moines. This was the second wedding I've been to where he played and all I can say is "wow." This guy does it all and I highly recommend any Iowa brides have him perform at your wedding reception.

Dancing...

The action in this shot cracks me up!

We had a blast with the two of you! Hope you win BIG in Vegas!

august 19, 2006 - angie + dan

I have been meaning to blog about this wedding for a week, but haven't had a chance while I have been catching up on my work. On August 19th, Cyndi and I were happy to stay in NWA and shoot Angie and Dan's wedding at Mildred B. Cooper Chapel in Bella Vista, Arkansas followed by the reception at Loch Lomond Yacht Club. The Chapel is a gorgeous place to get married, as you'll see from the images. So, without further ado...

Angie getting dressed in the office...

Told you so...

The happy, married couple...

On their way to the reception...

They had a brown cake which made for some cool "blown out" cake shots...

Can you spot the rings?

Dan's sisters wrote a song about the couple and it included hand gestures! Very nice!

These two tore up the dance floor with their crazy salsa dancing. We were all in awe!

Just playing around with some blurring...

Congratulations to both of you. We are so happy for you!

august 12, 2006 - jessica + chad

One part of working for myself as a photographer that I like is traveling to towns all across the country and getting to see just what they offer. Today, I was in Fairbank, Iowa for Jessica and Chad's wedding. Fairbank is a really nice, small town with a LOT of character including some really nice parks close to downtown. Jessica and Chad were married at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and their reception at the American Legion Hall followed. I had a really great time with these two and am really happy for them!

The fellas GQing it up!

Just in case you're wondering where Fairbank is...

It got a little hot and Chad found a way to keep the sweat out of his eyes

Oh yeah!

The cake looked really good...

...and apparently it was so good Chad wanted it all to himself! I love the look on Jessica's face! :)

Congratulations again to you two! Have fun in Minnesota!

august 5, 2006 - marcy + marty

I headed back to Des Moines for the weekend to shoot Marcy and Marty's wedding. It didn't snow today like I wanted, but the heat wasn't unbearable like the past couple of weeks. Marcy and Marty were married at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in West Des Moines with their reception at the Iowa Historical Building in Downtown Des Moines. Karl from Johnson Video Productions came along to assist me for the day and we had a really great time. This is one of the most fun couples to be around!

Interesting story about this photo. Everything was set for a limo to take the ladies to the church to get ready, but the limo didn't show up! They "commandeered" the shuttle at the Embassy Suites (okay, the Embassy Suites was more than happy to help out... no "commandeering" was necessary) and made it to the church.

Getting loosened up before the reception...

BTW... this isn't the limo they hired. That company never showed up.

The reception hall

I really liked the lights out on the terrace where the dancing was held. It made for some great pictures!

I love the looks on both of their faces!

Marcy and Marty, it has been so much fun getting to know you and I hope you have a fun and safe trip on your honeymoon! Talk to you when you get back!

Update about web server

I said below that I would give more on why I haven't been updating my blog. Well, for the past two or so weeks, I have been migrating my website over to a new server. I of course have my online galleries hosted on my own site so it made it a little harder to move those over. Luckily, the crew at Skooks Kart were there to help me get it all set back up. Now the good news...

Since there was some downtime, I am giving anybody who orders from my website 20% off their order. This is on top of any promo codes you may already have. It will automatically take effect when you checkout. Hurry though, this discount will only last through the end of the month!
